You’re O.J. Simpson and most of the world knows you’re an unconvicted killer. You say you don’t care what people think because you’re innocent. But you don’t feel innocent, and your guilt has long been eating you and left a hollow core inside a fattening and increasingly ridiculous man. ... MORE

Washington D.C. -- Christian Coalition of America applauds the decision by National Football League (NFL) to allow churches and religious groups to continue to hold their Super Bowl parties with large-screen televisions, similar to those sports bars use and approved by the NFL. Right before this year's Super Bowl, a number of churches around the United States cancelled their long-time Super Bowl parties because of supposed threats from the NFL. There was a huge uproar from churches complaining that sports bars were able to show the Super Bowl game on large screens, but yet churches were not able to do so for church fellowship events. ... Pro-life activists are decrying a decision by yet another National Football League team that has donated upwards of a quarter-million dollars to the leading abortion business in the country over the past few years. The Jacksonville Jaguars Foundation has given $30,000 in donations to Planned Parenthood. According to the Foundation, the money will be used to help teenagers avoid pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. The executive director of the Foundation has been quoted as saying the programs supported help teens "make the right choices" by giving them "the right information no matter what they [choose to] do."... WASHINGTON, April 30, 2007 – The Montgomery G.I. bill pays servicemembers’ and their dependents’ tuition at institutes of higher learning, but it doesn’t help them gain admission to school. NFL to Churches: Don't Violate Copyright Law

Fall Creek Baptist Church in Indianapolis was forced to punt Sunday, cancelling a Super Bowl extravaganza with the game playing on big screens. The reason, according to Pastor John Newland, was that the National Football League (NFL) had contacted the church a few days prior to the event and told them to "cease and desist." "They said we were in violation of the copyright law by hosting a Super Bowl party, because we were going to use the term 'Super Bowl' and were going to charge for the cost of food at the event," Newland told CitizenLink. Newland said he immediately sent a note back to the NFL, apologizing for the apparent viol... MORE

Shame on the Super Bowl coordinators for lining up several notables to be recognized just before the National Anthem Sunday, but failing to mention our troops for a job well done. How would you like to be within one step of being blown up stepping on hidden land mines or reaching out to tenderly touch the head of a child secretly wired up with explosives, for ingrates back home? And shame on ABC for ignoring this oversight or should I say over slight? We need to get one thing straight: if we didn’t have troops laying their lives on the line every second of every day–America would be taken over by our enemies, and the fate of Americans wou... MORE

Before the Super Bowl, the announcer asked for a moment of silence for Rosa Parks and Coretta Scott King. He then asked for a moment of silence for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. The announcer did not ask for a moment of silence for anyone else. Aretha Franklin and Aaron Neville then sang the National Anthem. What about the brave American soldiers fighting so that the rest of the world could watch the Super Bowl? If our soldiers deserve anything, it is our respect and our prayers. How many soldiers and freedom loving people were slapped it the face by the snub from the NFL and ABC? Last week ABC spent the majority of their on air... MORE

(AgapePress) - The Super Bowl is upon us, which means a showcase of remarkable athletic talent will be on display for all to enjoy. Look a little closer, and you'll see some remarkable people as well. There are plenty of NFL players who aren't great role models, but when Super Bowl XL kicks off in Detroit on February 5, a couple of admirable athletes will be in the spotlight: Pittsburgh running back Jerome Bettis and Seattle quarterback Matt Hasselbeck. They have led their respective teams this far because of their humility... MORE

(AgapePress) - There's no better time of the year to look at what makes a winner than at Super Bowl time. New England made it look easy. But Philadelphia gave no easy ground, and to the very last second on the field, and in the minutes following in the locker room, both teams showed us the character of champions. We can take a lesson from the big league winners when it comes to teaching our kids about life and success. Players like Bruschi, Owens, Branch, McNabb, and Brady don't rise to the top by accident.... MORE

Regular readers (hi mom, hi dad!) know I have been pretty relentless in my attacks on Pennsylvanians since moving to southeastern Pennsylvania last summer. Mostly, it’s been in self-defense. I’m a defensive driver. And Pennsylvanians can’t drive. But it occurs to me now, with the Super Bowl-bound Philadelphia Eagles in the national spotlight, that I’ve rarely, if ever, had anything nice to say about my new neighbors... MORE

Reggie White, an outspoken Christian and former all-pro NFL defensive end, died suddenly on Sunday at the age of 43. The medical examiner in Mecklenberg County, North Carolina, says the "Minister of Defense," as White was known, may have died because of a respiratory disease combined with other health problems. (AgapePress) - John Carney is, by all standards, one of the National Football League's top place-kickers. Throughout his lengthy professional career, his determination and hard work have resulted in tremendous on-field success. Carney's greatest sense of accomplishment, however, has come from living a life that is committed to Jesus Christ. "He's blessed me, my family and my career immensely," says Carney. "He's what makes me tick." Now in his fourth season with New Orleans, Carney has set several Saints records and ranks third among active NFL kickers in field goal accuracy.
